RV Spring Cleaning & Organization: Your Room-by-Room Guide to a Fresh Start

Nobody Actually Loves Spring Cleaning — But Here We Are
Not even the people who are very good at it. And yet, every spring, RVers everywhere find themselves staring down a stack of things that have somehow migrated out of their closets, cabinets, and under-bed storage and taken on a life of their own.
For me, that moment arrived when my closet started spilling books, hoodies, and t-shirts onto the floor, and I realized I'd been moving the pile from the floor to the bed and back again every single travel day. For Jennifer, it was pulling in the slides on move day and getting a very unwelcome look at what the season had left behind.
Sound familiar? You're in the right place.
We go room by room through a real spring cleaning — the kind that actually works in a small space, even if you have seven kids, a rock tumbler, a sock bag, and a five-year-old airplane soap hidden under the sink.
What This Episode Is About
This isn't a wipe-down-your-counters episode. Jennifer and I dig into what it actually takes to declutter, deep clean, and re-organize a rig for a new season, whether you're a weekend warrior, a full-timer with kids in tow, or like me, staring down two rigs that need a full clean-out before the next campground.
We cover it all: starting with a plan, working through the kitchen, bathroom, bedroom, closet, and living room, stepping outside to tackle the roof and exterior storage, and then circling back to the deep clean tasks that most RVers skip until something breaks.
It's honest, it's funny, and it's packed with tips you can actually use, including a storage system that Jennifer used with six kids in a 30-foot toy hauler, and a kitchen hack that cut Matt and my pot and pan storage in half.
This episode is perfect for you if you're:
• Ready to reset and refresh your rig for the season ahead
• A family RVer or homeschool family juggling multiple people's stuff in a small space
• A newer RVer who's never done a proper seasonal cleanout and isn't sure where to start
• Someone who keeps buying storage containers that don't fit
• An RVer who works remotely and needs their space to function as both a home and an office
• Anyone who has been moving a pile of stuff from the bed to the floor and back again for longer than they'd like to admit
• A part-timer, full-timer, or some-timer
What You'll Learn (Without Giving Away the Good Stuff)
We're giving you just enough to make sure you press play — not enough to skip it.
• How to know it's time. There are signs that your rig is overdue for a serious cleanout — and I share of my own that will make you feel very seen.
• Where to start (and why the kitchen isn't always the answer). Jennifer's method for tackling the overwhelm is practical, flexible, and finishable.
• Roof and exterior cleaning done right. Jennifer breaks down which cleaners to use, which ones to avoid entirely (including some very popular ones), and how to protect your investment before the season gets going. If you're not sure what to put on your roof — or what not to put on it — this part is for you. (And she’s legitimately an expert by trade, so she’s got the real info.)
• Real storage hacks that work in real rigs. Tension rods. IKEA Trones. Magnetic knife strips. Over-the-door shoe organizers repurposed in ways nobody told you about. Plus: the board game storage hack that changed everything for our rig.
• Room-by-room guidance. Kitchen, bathroom, bedroom, closet, living room. They each have their own quirks, and we get specific.
• The deep clean tasks most RVers skip. Including one that I learned live on mic — and my rig may never forgive me for missing.
• Jennifer's 30-60-90 method. A low-pressure, highly effective system for evaluating and letting go. And honest caveats about what can go wrong.
